Thanks for having your say on the future of sport in your area

We’re working to address current needs and future demand of sporting infrastructure across the city.

As part of this, we’re planning for the first new district level sports facility in decades to be delivered from the ground up to support the growing communities of Minmi, Fletcher, Maryland and surrounding suburbs.

The Creek Road Sports Concept Masterplan has been prepared to guide the development of a new district sports facility to meet this demand.

The Plan is at the concept stage and provides flexible, multi-use spaces that meet the sporting needs of the community and can adapt to changing needs into the future.

The Plan has been designed in collaboration with technical experts to ensure that the surrounding natural environment is protected.

What was proposed?

The plan's proposal included:

  • One all year-round rectangular field (100m x 64m) and one cricket field (75m) with 4 turf wickets.
  • Either two rectangular fields (116m x 68m and 120m x 68m) or one AFL field (165m x 135m).
  • A dual facing grandstand to accommodate change rooms, a canteen, seating, storage facilities, umpire's amenities and public amenities.
  • Open spaces for training, as well as enclosed cricket practice nets and fitness stations.
  • Terraced seating and car parking.
  • New trees and landscaping.
  • The plan also included a shared path around the site, with opportunities for seating adjacent to the wetlands and walking trails.
  • The draft concept Masterplan.
  • The preferred sporting codes to be accommodated at Creek Road.
  • The facilities and field alignment.
  • Which clubs or groups will be granted a licence to use the Creek Road facility. This will be decided later through a separate club selection process.
  • Site constraints such as flooding, wetlands and ecological factors that have shaped the design.
