City of Newcastle is proposing to enter into a draft Planning Agreement for the development at 10 Dangar Street, Wickham with the developer of the site, Dangar St Wickham Pty Ltd.

The draft Planning Agreement proposes a monetary contribution of $1,587,976.50 paid to City of Newcastle (CN) in connection with the proposed development at the site.

This monetary contribution will be used toward the provision of local public amenities or infrastructure that supports the implementation of the Wickham Masterplan 2021 (WMP 2021).

The draft Planning Agreement was endorsed by Council for public exhibition at its meeting on 27 September 2022.

What is a Planning Agreement?

A Planning Agreement (PA) is a legal agreement entered into by a planning authority, such as CN, and a developer. Under a Planning Agreement, a developer agrees to provide or fund community benefits such as public amenities, public services, affordable housing, transport, or other infrastructure.

What is an Explanatory Note?

Planning Agreements must be accompanied by an Explanatory Note to assist the public in understanding the Planning Agreement. An Explanatory Note will outline what the Planning Agreement is proposing, how it delivers public benefit, and why it is acceptable and within the public interest.
