When we consulted the Shortland community in June 2020 we heard that multiple overlapping demands for on-street parking are a major concern within Shortland Local Centre.
These themes came up again in early 2021 when we placed the draft Shortland Public Domain and Traffic Plan on public exhibition.
In response, we asked the community for feedback on options for additional timed parking restrictions.
Options presented included:
- Extending timed parking restrictions into Hansen Place, this offers the best/only opportunity to increase on-street parking availability near to Shortland's businesses.
- The creation of timed waste collection zone(s).
- The creation of additional 15 minute parking zone(s).
Have your say
We asked for feedback from the community and stakeholders on the proposed options via an online form which closed on 8 November 2021.
The survey results will inform any changes to parking restrictions which are implemented in conjunction with the upgrade of Shortland Local Centre. Construction of our upgrade commenced in November.
